The Water Village - Kampong Ayer, described as the "Venice of the East", It is the world's largest water village with 30,000 people living in houses on stilts hovered over the shallow banks of the Brunei River, in the heart of Bandar Seri Begawan for at least four centuries. This vast, labyrinthine, town on stilts greatly impressed the Magellan exploration expedition in 1521. Although furnished with every modern facility, a traditionally colorful and lively atmosphere remains in the village.
