| | Bacolod Masskara Festival 01- 21 Oct 2007 Bacolod City, Negros Occidental Philippines An icon for Bacolod as the City of Smiles, The MassKara Festival is now on its 28th year of celebration. A dance parade of artistically designed colored masks and costumes. Giant smiling mask in varied vibrant colors and hues using local materials gaily costumed dancers stomp, swing and pulsate in the major streets of the city every third of the month of October. ____________________________________ This year a newly invented dance parade was launched. On Oct 19-20 the 1st Electric MassKara - the right version of the famous MassKara dance parade, where small number of dancers will have their bodies lighted up, their dance will be at 5th street up to North Drive also known as the MassKara Strip. A festival known to many regions in the Visayas and Luzon, the MassKara Festival of Bacolod City has represented the Philippines in Festivals in Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai. And has been awarded as champion in the foreign category in the Midosuji Festival Parade of Osaka, Japan, a first in its 10 year history of Japanese Festival to be given in a foreign participant. | |
